Frequently Asked Questions - submit a question here if you want

Can I pay by EFT? You can make EFT payments to the Jitterbugs CBA account: Name = Jitterbugs BSB = 066173 Account = 10156932. For the description use the first 4 letters of your skater’s surname then a description of what payment is for (makes tracing things easier).

Can I video and take photos of the teams skating? You need to get parent permissions to video and photograph the skaters. No cameras or mobile phones are allowed in the change rooms except for those of the coaches; team managers; and hair lady.

When do we get our state tracksuits? State tracksuits are delivered once the team members have a place at Nationals - in 2009 this was after the WAISA State Championships in July 2009. If girls already have tracksuits then they get the year embroidered on, which requires the jackets to be cleaned, collected and delivered (through Mary-Ellen in 2009)

When do we get our state travel bags? If you can’t buy one from a past skater then we place a bulk order for the new skaters

How does judging and scoring work? Synchronised skating competitions, like those in other disciplines of figure skating, are now judged using the ISU Judging System that was introduced in 2004. Each element is assigned a difficulty level by the technical panel made-up of a technical specialist, assistant technical specialist and a technical controller. Each level of difficulty for a particular element corresponds to a base value. Judges assign a grade of execution from -3 to +3 to each of the elements, with 0 being the base value. Each grade of execution, or GOE, corresponds to a point value. For each element, the highest and lowest point values are dropped, and the rest are averaged. The sum of all the scores of the elements comprises the Technical Elements score.A series of five categories comprises the Program Components score. Each judge gives a score for each category. The scores for each category are calculated in the same manner as the Technical Elements score. The Technical Elements and Program Components scores are then added to form the total segment score. The team with the highest total segment wins the competition.
